MTRS Students Earn Top Honors for Service
ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - the fifth grade and kindergarten students at Mother Teresa Regional School were honored Saturday with the Jefferson Service Award. the two classes were honored for their volunteerism with King James Nursing Home. Students in the fifth grade have been writing to residents of King James Nursing Home in a pen pal program. both classes visited the Nursing Home in September to introduce the students to the residents and how their service would impact the students.

As kindergarten students Reagan Scalera and Allison Urbanski received the award on Saturday with Mrs. Michelle Taylor, fifth grade teacher, the students noted their involvement. Allison commented “we helped the people to find friends” and Reagan noted, “we made angels for them and wrote questions on the angels.” the year long service project will be continued next year as the students move into sixth grade and first grade.
